- There is still time to sow a second crop of quick growing annuals like alyssum, marigolds, nasturtiums, and California poppy (Escholtzia californica). Use them to replace earlier sowings that have started to look scraggly. It’s a good way to rejuvenate a midsummer garden.
- Parsley may also be going to seed. Sow a new batch in seed trays or directly into the ground. Parsley is a good companion plant for tomatoes and roses, as it keeps pests away.
- Plant a batch of baby carrots now and you will have baby carrots by Christmas.
- Use a fungicide like Rot ‘n Spot to treat Dollar spot and brown patch which are two fungal diseases that cause die back of lawns.
- To prevent fungus diseases make sure there is proper drainage in your lawn and beds, try and not water at the hottest time of the day (causes humidity) and space your plants well apart so the air can circulate.
